I have spent the past decade working with entrepreneurs and small businesses, and for the last few years, specifically with fintech companies. Fintech enables greater numbers of people and businesses to create wealth, be savvier about managing their finances, and save time. Plus, fintech is simply a lot of fun for people like me and the entrepreneurs that I serve.
Fintech clients have included:
+ a consumer credit API widget
+ a machine learning powered accounting technology suite
+ a real estate crowdfunding platform
+ an agrifinance crowdfunding platform
+ a socialized banking app
Finance experience informing my work in the fintech space includes: Head of the Finance Team for a crowdfunding platform, Acquisition Finder for a private equity fund, and Investment Analyst for the International Finance Corporation. I have a Finance Degree as well as a Fintech Certificate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. I also have a Leadership Degree from Georgetown University.
My mentoring activities have included serving as Wharton EIR, and judging start-up competitions at Georgetown University, Dar es Salaam Business School, Startup Open, and World Bank/Wharton School Ideas4Action initiative. I have also proudly offered several internship experiences to undergraduate students through SH International. I have been cited or published on global entrepreneurship in Business Insider, Wharton Entrepreneurship Blog, Nearshore Americas, Merger Market, and Forum for International Trade Training. I have spoken for institutions including: SBA, SCORE, U.S. Commercial Service, Fox School of Business, Global Enterprise Hub, and the Wharton School.
I have been described as “truly international,” with extensive on-the-ground business and investment experience across Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. I have worked on the ground on investments and businesses in 20+ countries and visited many more. I speak Spanish, French, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi/Urdu, and English (my native language). I am a sharp negotiator and take pride in being both business savvy and street smart.
I was born and raised in Delaware, and currently live in Washington, DC. Follow me on twitter: @HaqCast.
